Trouville Pond

No more chemicals in or around the pond, but it will take a bit of time and work to see the desired result. We have switched to all natural and organic pond treatment. This treatment helps the pond in two ways, clean the water from the top down, and breakdown the sludge accumulated below over the years.

When it rains, the streets drain in our pond, and the pond drains to Blendon Woods Metro Park. When the water level rises, then recedes, the grass that was under water collects the floating debris. This used to leave a strong oder, but we are happy to report that this is all in the past.

Please note that only 5% of the small ponds around are maintained by the city of Columbus, and ours is one of them. That is a good thing. Our pond drains to Blendon Woods Metro Park, and the drain to the Park is located at the south west corner. Sometimes the metal grade in that drain gets clogged. So when you notice the level of the water in the pond higher than usual, or notice that the pond is not draining properly, here is what you do. Either call the city 311 service to come unclog the drains, or you may take a shovel and clean that metal grade drain yourself, it takes a couple of minutes, and it is not difficult to do.
