Trouville Pond

We have completely eliminated the use of chemicals in and around the pond, opting instead for an all-natural, organic treatment. While this transition requires time and effort to achieve the desired results, it offers significant long-term benefits. This eco-friendly approach works in two ways: it naturally purifies the water from the surface down and gradually breaks down years of accumulated sludge at the bottom.

Our pond plays an essential role in local water management, as rainwater from our streets drains into it before flowing into Blendon Woods Metro Park. In the past, when water levels rose and receded, debris would collect on the submerged grass, causing unpleasant odors. We’re pleased to report that, thanks to our new treatment methods, those issues are now behind us.

It’s worth noting that only 5% of small ponds in the area are maintain by the City of Columbus—and ours is one of them. This is a great advantage, as our pond’s drainage system is directly connected to Blendon Woods Metro Park, with an outlet located at the southwest corner. Occasionally, the metal grate at this drain can become clogged, preventing proper water flow. If you notice unusually high water levels or slow drainage, you have two options:

1. Contact the City of Columbus 311 service to request assistance.

2. If you prefer a hands-on approach, you can use a shovel to clear the metal grate yourself—a quick and simple task that takes only a few minutes.

Your awareness and involvement help keep our community’s natural spaces clean and functional. Thank you for your support!
